Sterilisation of reusable medical devices
Revision of the recommendations on sterilisation from 2017 (SHC 9256)
The Superior Health Council has updated the good practices for the sterilisation of medical devices. This comprehensive advisory report describes the essential steps for the correct processing of medical devices and for maintaining their sterility up to the point of use. This revised version takes into account updated legislation and standards and focuses on the same quality of care for all patients, both in and out of the hospital (private practices, care facilities, polyclinics).
These recommendations replace the previous recommendations on sterilisation (SHC 7848, 2006 and SHC 9256, 2020). Please take this into account when referring to other SHC advisory reports, such as SHC advisory report 9444 on textile management, SHC advisory report 9446 on endoscope management and SHC advisory report 8363 on infection control in dental care.
